Kat and the Band

E.E. Hegarty trained at RADA in Stage Management and on graduating spent three years working in the theatre alongside such luminary directors as Braham Murray, Philip Ridley and William Gaskill. Moving into TV and Film as an assistant director, credits include “Judge John Deed”, “Shanghai Knights”, “Harry Potter” and as Assistant to the 2nd Unit Director, “Pirates of the Caribbean 4”. She became Richard Attenborough’s assistant for the final years of his career, working on his film “Closing the Ring” and in development for “Silver Ghost”, where she met “Kat and the Band” key investor, Ian Maiden. Her short documentary about the career of Richard Attenborough was a joint commission for BAFTA, BFI and Channel 4. In 2011, she met producer Rebecca Long when they were two of twenty mentees to be selected out of 200 applicants for the WFTV Mentee Scheme, and she was mentored by BAFTA winning director Carol Wiseman. Following several international, award winning shorts, “Kat and the Band” is E.E. Hegarty's debut feature
