In Honor of a Purple Heart

Documentary Short 9:34 Minutes

Synopsis:

Veteran Jerry Smith Sr. was wounded in the Vietnam War, but was denied a Purple Heart Medal on the basis of his race. As a cousin of Emmett Till this type of prejudice is painfully familiar, but Jerry has refused to let it hold him back. Now a retired police officer and hostage negotiator, he has devoted his life to supporting the underserved. But despite his exemplary profile, the United States Government continues to deny Jerry's petitions for the Purple Heart Award he deserves.
