Director Statement

From the humor that is ignited by the seriousness of the story to the great performances, the juxtaposition of levity against the gravity of the story became a guiding principle in my directorial approach, lending the film a unique and memorable quality.

Upon first encountering the script, it was evident that this was not a run-of-the-mill sketch. The decision to utilize the GPS as a loose framework for the characters' conversation introduced a layer of complexity that fueled my creative process. It demanded an inventive approach, pushing the boundaries of conventional storytelling and encouraging me to explore new avenues for comedic expression.

Collaborating with Mike Abatte and Andrew Parker Scott from the renowned Los Angeles-based sketch team WHOOPS! was a rewarding experience. Their commitment to taking the material seriously, despite its comedic nature, added depth to their performances. This intentional balance allowed for unexpected comedic moments to organically arise, contributing to the film's overall charm and wit.

"Drive to Airport" stands out in my directorial portfolio as a testament to the power of merging humor with sincerity. The collaboration with the talented performers further elevated the project, resulting in a comedy that I am proud to consider among my favorites.
