Director Statement

I chose to direct 'Lady Doctor' because I was unable to locate any other film focusing on the 1912 Arizona Statehood, the suffrage movement and the racial tensions occurring within the state.

The three main characters are fictional but everything occurring around them was inspired by true events and real people. The main character, Flora Yount, is a devoted wife and mother who finds herself trapped in a world that restricts a woman's aspirations and dreams.

I was originally drawn to this project because the writer was diagnosed with Autism. He wanted to show the world that people on the spectrum can be as educated and successful as anyone else. He achieved his goal by creating a thought-provoking script focusing on a woman's struggle for the same acceptance and recognition.

We hope this film will inspire creativity & give hope to many more actors and crew members on the autistic spectrum.
